Publication Ethics
Jurnal Ilmu Politik, Pemerintahan dan Komunikasi (JIPPK) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing all forms of publication malpractice. The journal upholds the principles of integrity, transparency, fairness, accountability, and academic responsibility throughout the publication process. Editors, reviewers, authors, and all parties involved in scholarly publishing are expected to adhere to ethical standards consistent with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Publication and Authorship
All manuscripts submitted to JIPPK undergo a rigorous peer-review process conducted by qualified experts in relevant fields. The journal applies a double-blind peer-review system to ensure fairness, objectivity, and impartiality during the evaluation process.
Editorial assessment considers the originality, scholarly contribution, methodological quality, theoretical relevance, clarity of presentation, significance of findings, and suitability of the manuscript to the journal’s aims and scope.
Editorial decisions may result in acceptance, minor revision, major revision, or rejection. Requests for revision do not guarantee eventual acceptance, as publication decisions remain dependent on the successful fulfillment of reviewers’ and editors’ recommendations.
Manuscripts submitted to JIPPK must be original works that have not been published previously and are not under consideration by another journal, conference proceeding, or publication outlet. Simultaneous submissions, duplicate publications, redundant publications, plagiarism, copyright infringement, data fabrication, data falsification, citation manipulation, and other forms of publication misconduct are strictly prohibited.
The journal reserves the right to reject or retract manuscripts found to violate ethical publishing standards at any stage of the publication process.
Authors’ Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts represent original scholarly work and comply with accepted standards of academic integrity. Authors must guarantee that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere and is not simultaneously submitted to another publication.
Authors are expected to present accurate, authentic, and verifiable data. Research findings should be reported honestly without fabrication, falsification, selective reporting, or inappropriate data manipulation.
All individuals listed as authors must have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research, analysis, and manuscript preparation. Individuals who have contributed significantly should be appropriately acknowledged, while those who have not contributed substantially should not be included as authors.
Authors must properly cite and acknowledge all sources, references, data, theories, and prior research relevant to their work. Any financial, institutional, personal, or professional conflicts of interest that may influence the research or publication process must be disclosed transparently.
Where applicable, authors are responsible for ensuring that their research has obtained appropriate ethical approval and complies with applicable ethical regulations involving human participants, institutions, communities, or other research subjects.
If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are obligated to notify the editorial office promptly and cooperate in issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the quality and integrity of scholarly publications. All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared, discussed, or used for personal advantage.
Reviews should be conducted objectively, professionally, and constructively. Reviewers are expected to provide fair, evidence-based evaluations that help authors improve the quality, clarity, and scholarly contribution of their manuscripts.
Reviewers should identify relevant literature that has not been cited by the authors and notify the editors of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published or submitted works known to them.
Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts when conflicts of interest exist due to competitive, collaborative, institutional, financial, or personal relationships that could compromise impartial judgment.
Reviewers are expected to complete evaluations within the agreed review period and communicate promptly with editors if delays arise.
Editors’ Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for maintaining the academic quality, integrity, credibility, and reputation of the journal. Editorial decisions must be based solely on scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal scope, and the significance of the manuscript’s contribution to knowledge.
Editors must ensure a fair, objective, confidential, and unbiased review process without discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, institutional affiliation, political beliefs, or personal characteristics of the authors.
The confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities must be preserved throughout the editorial and review process. Editors must not disclose information regarding manuscripts to unauthorized individuals.
Editors are responsible for addressing allegations of ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, authorship disputes, and other unethical practices. Appropriate corrective actions may include manuscript rejection, publication of corrections, issuance of retractions, or notification of relevant institutions when warranted.
Editors must avoid conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from editorial decisions when personal, professional, or financial relationships may influence impartial judgment.
Ethical Oversight
JIPPK is committed to promoting ethical research and responsible scholarly communication. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical publishing principles emphasizing transparency, accountability, academic honesty, and professional responsibility.
Cases involving plagiarism, duplicate publication, redundant publication, fabricated or falsified data, inappropriate authorship practices, citation manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other forms of research and publication misconduct will be investigated thoroughly and handled in accordance with accepted publication ethics standards.
The journal encourages authors, reviewers, editors, and readers to report ethical concerns whenever they arise. All allegations will be evaluated fairly, confidentially, and transparently to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
By submitting, reviewing, editing, or publishing manuscripts in JIPPK, all parties agree to uphold the ethical principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the broader international academic community.
