Ethical Guidelines
Journal of Learning and Educational Innovation (JLEI)
The Journal of Learning and Educational Innovation (JLEI) is committed to promoting ethical research, responsible scholarly communication, and academic integrity throughout the publication process.
These Ethical Guidelines are based on internationally recognized standards of scholarly publishing and the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process including authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher are expected to comply with these ethical standards.
A. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to JLEI are expected to adhere to the highest standards of research and publication ethics.
Originality and Academic Integrity
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works and have not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal.
All sources, ideas, data, and materials derived from other works must be appropriately cited and acknowledged.
Research Integrity
Authors are responsible for presenting accurate, reliable, and truthful research findings.
Data fabrication, data falsification, selective reporting, and manipulation of research results constitute serious ethical violations.
Research Involving Human Participants
Research involving human participants, educational interventions, surveys, interviews, observations, or personal data must be conducted in accordance with applicable ethical standards and institutional regulations.
Where applicable, authors should indicate that:
Informed consent has been obtained from participants.
Ethical approval has been granted by the appropriate institution or ethics committee.
Participant privacy and confidentiality have been protected.
Authorship and Contribution
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research.
All listed authors must:
Approve the final version of the manuscript.
Agree to its submission for publication.
Accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.
Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation of the research.
Corrections and Retractions
If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the editorial office and cooperate in issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary.
B. Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and credibility of scholarly publications.
Confidentiality
Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not disclose manuscript content to unauthorized individuals.
Objectivity and Fairness
Reviews should be conducted objectively, professionally, and without personal bias.
Reviewers should provide constructive, evidence-based feedback that assists authors in improving their work.
Timeliness
Reviewers should complete evaluations within the agreed review period and notify the editor if circumstances prevent timely completion.
Identification of Ethical Concerns
Reviewers should alert editors to any suspected:
Plagiarism
Duplicate publication
Data manipulation
Ethical concerns
Significant overlap with previously published work
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must decline review invitations if conflicts of interest could compromise their impartiality.
C. Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for maintaining the integrity, quality, and fairness of the publication process.
Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions must be based solely on scholarly merit, originality, methodological quality, significance, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope.
Fair and Unbiased Evaluation
Editors must ensure that manuscripts are evaluated fairly without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, institutional affiliation, political beliefs, or personal characteristics.
Confidentiality
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and all communications related to the editorial process.
Ethical Oversight
Editors should take appropriate action when allegations of publication misconduct or ethical concerns arise.
Publication Decisions
The Editor-in-Chief has final responsibility for acceptance, revision, or rejection decisions.
Conflict of Interest
Editors must avoid handling manuscripts where personal, professional, or financial conflicts of interest may affect impartial judgment.
D. Responsibilities of the Publisher
The publisher supports the editorial team in maintaining ethical publishing standards and preserving the integrity of the scholarly record.
The publisher is committed to:
Supporting editorial independence.
Promoting ethical scholarly communication.
Preserving academic freedom and integrity.
Maintaining transparent publishing practices.
Supporting the correction or retraction of published content when necessary.
The publisher shall not influence editorial decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts.
E. Research Ethics and Academic Integrity
JLEI expects all published research to comply with recognized ethical standards and responsible research practices.
The journal does not tolerate:
Plagiarism or self-plagiarism
Data fabrication
Data falsification
Citation manipulation
Authorship misconduct
Duplicate submission
Redundant publication
Undisclosed conflicts of interest
Unethical treatment of research participants
Any suspected violations will be investigated in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and Allegations of Misconduct policies.
F. Compliance with Ethical Standards
By submitting, reviewing, editing, or publishing manuscripts in JLEI, all parties agree to uphold these ethical principles and contribute to the advancement of responsible, transparent, and trustworthy scholarly communication.
JLEI encourages all participants in the publication process to follow the ethical guidance and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
