References Management
Journal of Learning and Educational Innovation (JLEI)
The Journal of Learning and Educational Innovation (JLEI) requires authors to prepare citations and references in accordance with the American Psychological Association (APA) Style, 7th Edition.
Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity of all citations and references included in their manuscripts.
Citation and Referencing Style
All in-text citations and reference lists must follow the APA Style (7th Edition).
Authors should ensure that:
Every source cited in the text appears in the reference list.
Every reference listed is cited within the manuscript.
Author names, publication years, titles, volume numbers, issue numbers, page ranges, and DOI information are accurate and complete.
References are presented consistently according to APA guidelines.
Manuscripts that do not comply with the required citation style may be returned to authors for revision prior to peer review.
Reference Management Software
To improve citation accuracy and consistency, authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software, including but not limited to:
Mendeley
Zotero
EndNote
RefWorks
Other equivalent reference management tools
Manual formatting is permitted provided that all citations and references fully comply with APA Style (7th Edition).
Quality of References
Authors are encouraged to use high-quality scholarly sources that are relevant to the topic and contribute to the academic rigor of the manuscript.
Preferred references include:
Peer-reviewed journal articles.
Scholarly books and book chapters.
Conference proceedings.
Official reports from reputable institutions.
Credible academic and research publications.
Whenever available, references should include Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) or permanent links to facilitate accessibility and verification.
Currency of References
Authors are encouraged to prioritize recent literature to ensure that manuscripts reflect current developments in the field.
As a general guideline:
A substantial proportion of references should be drawn from publications issued within the last 5–10 years.
Authors should engage with current international literature relevant to their research topic.
Classical and foundational references may be used where theoretically appropriate.
Primary Sources
JLEI strongly encourages the use of primary scholarly sources, particularly articles published in reputable national and international journals.
Authors should avoid excessive reliance on:
Unverified websites.
Non-scholarly sources.
Secondary citations ("cited in" references).
Popular media sources that lack academic credibility.
DOI and Persistent Identifiers
Where available, authors should include:
DOI (Digital Object Identifier)
ISBN (for books)
Other persistent identifiers relevant to the cited source
The inclusion of persistent identifiers improves discoverability, verification, and long-term accessibility of scholarly references.
Reference Accuracy
Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy of all references cited in their manuscripts.
The editorial team may request corrections when references are incomplete, inaccurate, improperly formatted, or inconsistent with APA Style (7th Edition).
Accurate and responsible referencing is an essential component of academic integrity and scholarly communication.
